Honeymoon ideas?

You guys know I'm getting married next year. I'm so excited. But I need honeymoon ideas! Where did you go on your honeymoon? Is there somewhere you know about that's cheap, romantic, and beautiful? We're looking for somewhere far away we haven't been there before but close enough that it's cheap to get to. Europe and Asia are out, but we're thinking Central America, eastern Canada, or the west coast. We want to be somewhere somewhat secluded. Somewhere near the ocean (or at least a lake or stream). Somewhere with a kitchen, since I don't love eating out and not knowing if my food is safe, because it's cheaper, and because we both love to cook. Our time frame is for at least a week, maybe two, in mid-June. We're not against camping or roughing it a bit, if we can fly then rent a car. So do you know of a perfect spot?

you should talk to ma about Belize! I think that Nicaragua/Guatemala/Honduras are inexpensive for tourists as well - once you get there. don't know about flights, though.
also, I hear it's relatively cheap to fly to Peru. but don't know what it's like there! (aside from AWESOME)

  2. Hi - I've been reading for a long time. How about a cabin on one of the San Juan Islands, like Lopez Island, which has these lovely little cabins on the water, with kitchens, and they are wonderful places to have breakfast on the porch in the morning. You could take the ferries all around during the day, or even island hop, and/or go to victoria for a few days. There is a darling little bed and breakfast right in downtown victoria

it's lovely. The bakery isn't gluten free, but you have a full kitchen in the suites and it's adorable. Hope that gives you ideas!

  3. Regardless of where you go, you will have a wonderful time.

You mentioned eastern Canada, so my suggestion is Quebec City. Considering that it is 400 years old, and an absolutely beautiful city, if europe had been in your head, it's a wonderful substitute - with some canada thrown in of course. Oh, and they have the best maple syrup.

  5. have you thought about the south? there's a sweet bed and breakfast scene in northern Florida and Louisiana. like new england but waaaay more hospitable. when i was a kid my parents took me to a BEAUTIFUL "barrier island" off of Georgia, very secluded, nicest locals . AND CONGRATS!

  6. I adore Peru as well, but to really get around well there you need to know Spanish. Lima is amazing!

I'm getting married in January (yay!), and my fiance is in charge of the honeymoon - all I know is what to pack and that it's going to take two days to drive there since we're getting married in the afternoon. As a college senior taking 18 hours, one less thing to plan is a god-send, plus it keeps him involved.

  7. Just found your site, thanks to my new found love of mochi!

I highly recommed Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. It's known as one of the top ten most beautiful islands in the world! Besides, you'll never meet nicer people than those from Atlantic Canada. And the "Capers" are among the nicest of the nice. They all won me over :)

  9. I just got back from Seattle and Vancouver and absolutely LOVED Vancouver. If you use Seattle as your main airport, you can save a lot of money by flying within the country. You can then travel to Victoria by boat(on Vancouver Island) or Vancouver by rental car (the city). I haven't been to Victoria but my sister absolutely loved it out there.

Hi--We went on our honeymoon to Africa! We did the first half adventure and the second half lounging on the beach! We did a safari in Kenya for 4 days and went to Zanzibar for 5. It was the most amazing experience and I can't wait to go back!
