We serve brussels sprouts at work, and they're probably one of the most popular things we have in the case right now. Which is weird, because I didn't think people liked brussels sprouts. For some reason, this makes me want to try them, but absolutely not that ones we sell at Wholefoods, which were frozen and are tiny. I wanted to make the big ones, roasted in the oven, til they caramelized. My mom says I don't eat enough vegetables, which is true I guess, but I put a lot of vegetables into things I eat, they just never get their own side dish. These were awesome.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
1 pound brussels sprouts
1 or 2 onions, peeled and cut into thin rings
2 T butter, melted
salt and pepper
Preheat your oven to 375.
Wash sprouts and cut off bottom stems, then cut in half. Remove any lose leaves that fall off. Toss with onions in butter, and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Roast, covered, for half an hour, stirring occasionally, then remove cover and cook until browned and slightly crispy in parts. Adjust seasonings. Enjoy!
They look yummy! Congratulations on eating your veggies. Wonder what you ate with them. Thanks for a wonderful recipe! Love, Mom
ReplyDeletehey! this is like what I made last night, except better. my recipe said to roast the onions and then to boil the sprouts and saute them together for a couple minutes with mustard. they were good and stuff but I really wish I had roasted the brussels sprouts too, because they taste better like that.
ReplyDeleteMa - I ate meatloaf with them! mmmm!
ReplyDeleteD - I'm making them for thanksgiving I think!
Try tossing a little garam masala on them when they come out.
ReplyDeleteI love roasted brussel sprouts, yum. But then, I've never had them any way that wasn't delicious. They're good roasted with some delicious olive oil/spices, simmered in a sweet GF beer sauce, in a Chinese stir fry... I'm a brussels fanatic this year!
