I’ve been stalling on writing in here. I haven’t uploaded any pictures lately, even though there are a ton on my camera. And, most crushingly, I tried the macarons. And probably because I didn’t believe I could do it, I failed. They tasted good. But they were concrete. I mixed the egg whites in too much. I literally had to scrape them off the cookie sheet with the back part of a hammer. You know, the part you pry nails out of things with. And with the extra egg yolks, I attempted custard. I didn’t know custard breaks when it reaches a certain temperature. WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME!! Needless to say, it was a traumatic and upsetting night. I did manage to make decent gluten free cinnamon rolls, but I want to make them a few more times to see if I can make them better before I post a recipe.
Nothing else noteworthy has been going on in the kitchen. But, I have decided to quit my job. I did some math, and realized I spend very close to half of my take home pay on owning a car. Between car insurance, car payments, gas, tolls, and occasional parking tickets, its just not worth it. Plus, I’m miserable. So I spent a few hours last night writing a resume and sending it to some places. I got a call back from the place I most want to work at this morning, and am calling the woman back at lunch. I’m looking for jobs that have to do with food, kids or dogs.
So, cross your fingers. I’ll be happier, car less, and happier. I know, I said it twice.
I promise I will post pictures soon.
